Shown here at the 2011 CeBit conference in Germany, the Zeutschel OS14000 scanner is designed to scan the delicate, rare and valuable books and documents found in libraries and archives that need to be handled with extra care. The resolution of up to 600 ppi optical (at a contrast ratio of up to 8 line pairs per millimeter) allows reproductions that remain absolutely true to the original. The LED illumination ensures that the original is not damaged. The OS 14000 uses Perfect Book, a unique scan technology that does 3D surface reconstruction. As a result, scanned pages are automatically separated and the center bookfold is automatically corrected to avoid distortions. This greatly improves image quality by avoiding unsightly black centre stripes and also helps to reduce toner consumption during printing.
